I know there has been some dispute to whether or not cold air kits actually benefit a forced induction car......... with that said i'm not wanting to know someones globs of info on the effects rather just a simple question on fit and finish from those have already purchased a cold air kit from http://www.buickgn.com/ or http://www.modelman5.com/tinmanproductspage.htm ... as you can see the products look very similar. The tinman kit says you can keep charcoal canister in the stock location... any first hand experience? Anyone disapointed in there results or fit and finish? Any response from those who have one of the mention kits is appreciated. Also what is the tinman kit made of? [ie. Aluminum]

Thumbs up for buickgn.com

I got the Big Mouth Cold Air Kit from buickgn.com. It was easy to install the fit was good. I just drilled a hole to the right of the original to move the cannister over. In the directions it says you might not have to. I could have left it in the original spot, but it would have touced alittle. It looks good and I am very satisfied with it. Scott

thanx for the replys ... keep'em coming. Also can you use an ATR MAF pipe with either of the kits or would i need to buy a straight pipe?

I have Tomka's kit.

BTW, there is no disputing that colder, higher pressure air is advantageous to turbocompressor performance, regardless of the common wisdom. Common wisdom grew from the observation that the old KB ram air system starved the car for air, which is quite true, but not exactly the same issue.

I have the big mouth. Fit was fine. I don't know if it helped performance or not but it sure sounds sweet when it snorts.

I believe we offer more choices in material and finishes than anyone. Triple plated chrome steel, plain aluminum or powder coated aluminum in your choice of black or silver.

You can use ours with existing solid MAF pipes but you may have to cut them down to fit.

We also offer MAF pipes in 3", 3.5" and 4" sizes. :)

I purchased the big-nouth shorty!

I does help performance and yes I think it looks great in chrome!

I just installed my Tin Man and really like it. I did how ever have to move the EVAP canister. The directions say you "may" have to move it but there's no way you're going to get that 4" pipe in there with the canister in the stock location.

Thats kinda what i was thinking since the Tinman and Bigmouth both deal with 4" tubing - i was wondering how Tinman could "squeeze" the canister in and Mark couldn't. Thanx for the help.
