I used the comp lifters that came with it. I got the cam from Cotton. Part # 69-246-4 grind #dv6 268h-10 . It's the same # Slusser is running. My lifter preload is about .030. I'm using the stock springs that came on the GN1's . I had a valve job done on them a few months ago and they came out to 100 lbs. on the seat.
I'm running a DFI . No chip. But if i were running a chip it would be the Maxeffort mafless.
The car is very responsive except for a slight just off idle flat spot. I don't believe it has anything to do with the cam. Just needs more tuning on the dfi.

Rocker Arms?

I didn't see any mention of roller rockers in the original post. What type rockers are being used? Maybe you could go to higher lift rockers, if you haven't done that already, without changing cams. Would accomplish some of the same things, if the valve springs will take it. Just my thought, if it doesn't apply, well, there's worse posts I've made.

Stock rocker arms

That's another good reason to run this cam. You can still run the stock rocker arms. I ran 10.63@127 with stock rockers. I've sence switched to TD 1.65 lifter preload@ .030 and went 10.75@23 psi boost. With alot more in the car.

You can't go wrong with this cam.

Good Luck

How many versions of the Comp. Cams 218/218 flat tappet are there? Scoot, you mentioned a "race grind". Where did you buy your cam from Chris? Wonder if GM lifters would help with the noise. Brian

Fuelie600,
I bought my cam from a local speed shop in Houston. You cam buy these cams from anyone I.E Summitt or Jegs. I think RJC might even sell them.

The part number is CL69-246-4. I think that this is the kit number with cam and lifters.

Good Luck.

Two months ago when i tried to buy the cam summit and jegs were both out of stock. Comp. was out of stock and had no blanks to grind. Cotton had it on the shelf. Check with him or Jason ,or Cal Hartline.

As I mentioned above, there is a street/strip version and a strip-only, or "race" grind. Both have 218/218 specs with .469(?) lift with 1.55 rockers. The race grind is just more aggressive in getting the valve open quicker. There is always more to a product than the name...;)

So therein would be the reason for excessive valve train noise. Thanks Scott. Brian GSCA
