Okay, heres the deal. Went to T&T earlier [late] and only got one run. No big deal, T&T tommorow morning aswell (8-1 o'clock), then eliminations begin in the afternoon. Problem is I dont really know what to do with the tune. Something weird is going on. Had to get off the pedal again near the beginning of the run because the audible knock sensor went crazy. No more than 2 degrees of kr @ 100mph right before I got off it with 23 lbs of boost and 824 O2's, but 26 degrees of kr at 13mph with 832 O2's :confused: . Also, 24 degrees of kr during the burnout with no boost (19"s of vaccum) with 862 O2's. The frame right before was 11 psi boost with no KR and 863 O2's :confused: .
Is it possible to run too rich, and cause KR? I have never ran O2's this high before with this type of boost. Injecting methanol has to have something to do with this, as I just started using it recently. Power is greater than ever, but I cant seem to run a complete run to see it. If O2's are so high and there is no KR at higher mph should I just ignore it and stay on the pedal?? If I could solve this early on problem I could tune the O2's a bit lower and really run some #s.

I used to only have to worry about KR at the topend. My problem is at the beginning of the run!!! How should I deal with this. Looking for some suggestions please......ASAP.
THANKS GUYS.

P.S. info from TLINK. Let me know what other info would help.

Heres the timeslip info if it may help:

60ft= 2.190
330= 6.686
1/8= 10.022
mph= 75.43
1000= 12.784
1/4= 15.072
mph= 98.78

Had to get all the way off the pedal right at the beginning of the run. Im surprised I still got a 2.1 60ft. This run was really heading for something good. On top end, after getting back on the pedal I gained 23.35 mph in the 2nd 1/8 to get almost 99mph! This is sick. I hate having to lift off the pedal :mad: . I will definately be eliminated quick if I have to continue to deal with this.

Too rich will cause KR. I learned the hard way. If you're trying to put up good numbers, turn the menthanol down and run some C-16. If it still knocks on the low end consider it false knock. For some reason, we run as lean as 700mv on methanol with no knock on pump gas.

One other thing, 15pi is kind of high for a turn on point. Are you sure the alky is getting there in time?

Youve got it. John Dicarlo (Red Regal T) mentioned that possibility to me earlier. I lowered the turn on point to about 10 psi and the problem went away :) . Thanks!
This Methanol is something else! Too bad Ive got to just keep running consistant this weekend. Id like to see what I can get my times down to since the early KR problem is gone.

I'm not so sure if the 15psi turn on point was all of your problem, it may also have alot to do with your jet size I think your jet size is too big for you application. After 2 years of sitting on all my materials I finally installed my homemade alky kit. By the way thanks 6Sense for the tip on the affordable alky solenoid, that was the biggest hold up. Anyway my turn on point is 15psi w/ a .33 nozzle mounted in the turbo adapter pointed upstream. I got it finished about 1am this morning and took it out for a test drive and all I can say is WOW!!!!! I wanted to go to the track and get some #'s but the wiring took longer than expected. But all I can tell you is 26-28psi w/ no more than 3* kr on 5gal of 110, 6gal of 93 xylene mix on a JL 93 street chip w/ 18* timing O2'S in the .800-.830 range, don't know why but my car likes it there, no bogging, no lag, no low end kr, nothing. So while lowering your turn on point may compensate by giving your alky more time to atomize while your building boost since your fuel pressure hasn't risin that much your jet size may still be too large for your application. I never considered any turn on point lower than 15psi anyway because I never had an issue w/ kr until I reached the 20 plus psi range so a 15psi turn on point made since to me. But that's just my O2. Anyway hope you get the bugs worked out and again thanks for the tip.

The difference I see is that you're running a racegas mix with the alky and 6SENSE is not. 15psi is getting near the maximum boost level for pump gas and the split second it takes for the alky to hit coupled with a small turbo that probably spools like crazy boost could be 18psi or more by the time it gets there. With a little racegas in the mix thats not a problem.

With the money and time I have invested in my POS I will never be on anything less than 100 octane and alcohol even at low boost levels. My dad even runs 100 octane in his stage II car even though we only run 10psi on the street. It's cheap insurance.

Cool84 your partly right with the exception of having a small turbo, I'm running a John Craig TA 60 w/ a P-Trim exhaust housing. But until now I have never been able feel the full potential of this turbo, this thing really comes alive after 24psi and I think with alky and a little more tuning I can take it right up to 30psi. On a low timing chip of coarse.

I hear you on coming alive at the higher boost levels. When I went from the 49 to the 64 I was a little disappointed in the performance gain. It felt a little faster but I mostly got extra lag. That is until the first time I took it past 19psi. Night and day difference.
