Ive been trying to find out whats wrong with my car, so i decided to do a compression test. i only did the front two cylinders on each side because it started getting dark and rainy the results are as follows:

165psi 160psi
170psi 160psi
(front of car)

can i conclude anything from this, i see they are pretty close, but i can i tell anything good or bad from this>?

compression

Mannn!!! thats very high avg on a good tight motor is usually around 150 psi. You must have done something previously to bump the compression ratio up.

wow really? it is a newer motor. i just cant seem to figure out what causing the problems ive been havingg recently, the car is almost undriveable. at least its good to know my internals are ok

compression

Doing only 2 cylinders doesn't tell you anything. A 10% varience among all 6 cylinders is acceptible--you must check the rest!! Tommy

i ckecked the front 4, i didnt have time to do the back two , ill do them tomorrow

Yeah... you have to do all 6 cylinders. I did a compression test on a car I was going to buy a few years back... CHEAP.. original 55k TTYPE that was running rough!!

The first 5 cylinders were 155-160psi... I was excited, told the owner he might have a deal. Checked the last cylinder (back passenger side & a b*tch to get at)... and it read "0". Put some oil into the cylinder & it bumped it up to around 30psi... not a stuck valve!!!

check the cam sensor & see if it was put in correctly... a friend had his out 180 degrees. It ran but had no omph!!!

Good luck.... dave
