i am replacing my converter it was making a whining noise in drive or reverse just sitting idling, then it went away,i think something in converter is getting ready to go, why i have the trans down i like to replace the front pump with a 10 v what else do i need to do to the pump to make it last or does someone have a modified pump ready to bolt in with bigger boost valve, thanks

If you haven't removed the trans, you could attach a pressure gauge to it and see how the pump's doing. It may be fine. If so, install one of CK's Shift Recalibration Kits, it has the TV & L/R Boost Valves included.

I have the exact same problem as you but haven't investigated it further yet. My plan is to drain trans fluid and strain as well as inspect the inside pan area and filter. If all those look good and pass inspection, my trans and TC will come out for a new one which I haven't decided on yet (if needed).

the trans was rebuilt about 6 months ago, but i used a cheap converter it has some minor mods hardened input and some kind of shell shiftkit fairbanks servo, i was just thinking of putting a 10 v pump with all the mods done drilled boost valve and maybe replace input again, i just dont want to pull it down and find the input shaft is worn what do you think trans still shifts good.

Most likely it was built with the Hardened Stator Support & Sun Shell. Input Shaft is probably Stock, it's not a high wear part.
Any of the Vendors/Builders on here can supply you with an upgraded 10-vane Pump.
Either way you'll need to drop the trans & have the converter checked + see what's in the pan as far as metal, clutch debri etc.. Maybe just a Converter & Pump change will be needed + fliter/fluid.
