converting a G80 to 30 spline?

Will the side gears in a 12 bolt posi fit in a g-80 posi? Or is there a aftermarket side gear that uses the c clip with 30 splines? Moroso sells a kit but it wont work with the c clip. I have the Moser 30 spline c clip axles (were suposed to be 28 spline but thats another story). I know you can buy an aftermarket posi with 30 spline but I just put clutches in the old rear and they lasted 120k miles. And I don't want use c clip eliminaters.

I have a used Auburn 30 spline posi unit for $175 if you are interested.

Sounds like you are in for a lot of work in attempting to mix/match 12 bolt and 10 bolt stuff together. You may want to contact Gears R US.

gnx7, I would rather use a clutch type posi over the auburn, but thanks for the offer. It will be alot less work to change the side gears than to install a new posi unit. You can R/R them without removing the unit. I can get a set of 12 bolt gears for cheap. I've read/heard they would work but wanted to know if it will work first. By the way this is for my son's 455 regal which has my GN's rear in it.

12 bolt gears will not work, they are larger. However, there are 10 bolt axle gears available with higher spline counts.

87GN_70GS thanks thats what I needed to know. Well if we can find a truck 8.5 with a posi we're in luck if not then we'll have to find a new set.

Trade ?

I have a new set of 28 spline c-clip mosers with 1/2 inch screw in studs that I might trade. I'll dig through the parts this weekend to make sure thats what they are.
