Just installed the Big mouth kit and noticed where the filter sits. It looks like this would be very proned to hydrolock if it was driven in any wet weather. I don't plan on driving in rainy conditions, but would this prevent me from every getting caught in wet weather?

I've driven my car in a crazy downpour in biloxi, MS. Not so much as a stumble. Huge puddles, near flood condition basically. It seems most water winds up behind the wheel and not in front of it, especially when you have the front airdam blocking the way.

Guess this is my day for people questioning my products! :D The best test I had on my system was when I went to the Turbo Regal show that used to be held in PA by "The Source" TR newsletter. The skies didn't open up until after the show was over and I drove home to CT in 5 hours of torrential downpours with not a bit of problem. I was traveling with my friend and insurance agent Dave Steeves who took his T-Type to the show. He suggested coming back on the Merritt Parkway thru CT instead of I-95 and anyone knows who drives that on a regular basis how it floods during heavy downpours. I was still driving at the speed limit but had to wait up for Dave once in a while and had some concerns on what was happening under the hood. When I got home I checked things out and yes the filter had some water on it but no signs of water puddling inside the filter.

I would think that the only time you could actually hydrolock the motor would be if you submerged the filter entirely under water and if you ever got that deep in water maybe you should take up submarining as a hobby!:D

I've logged over 100,000 miles with a K&N hanging behind the headlights on a daily driver in all kinds of rain, snow, whatever, with no problems. A friend had a similar setup and once when the floodwaters in Gulfport, MS kept rising, he tried to drive his GN to higher ground. He forgot about the air filter location, and when the front wheels dropped off his driveway into the gutter the water got up about to the headlights and the motor hydrolocked immediately. Just don't do that :-).
