Could my OD cause failure?

In my other thread I talked about how after the overdrive was engaged the tester would let the RPMs fall to like 1800, then step in it again taking it back up to speed (in OD). Would that cause unburned gas to load up? I failed on HCs so would there be a difference if I had the tester drive w/o OD?
 
If he is doing the test on a dyno he should have tested the car in drive...but I have yet to see a car fail a test while testing in overdrive....I sometimes forget to put it in drive..especially the fords with the buttom on the column shifter to turn off the overdrive...

If you fail for hc...was your car in a good state of tune...
 
For I/M240, the car is to be tested in OD, unless otherwise specified. Since Georgia has ASM testing, that test requires testing in drive, not OD.
