Okay, this is a strange one.
Ever since I got my car, the cruise control shuts off when I signal a left turn. I've lived with it since I had to do some creative wiring as a result of when the car was totaled. It was hit hard in the left 1/4 and the wiring harness that feeds the tail lights and the fuel pump was severed. I spliced those wires back together the best I could using a donor harness. When I was done I actually had an extra light bulb that I've had tucked up under the bumper. I've never had back-up lights, the left tail light works intermittently as does the high-mount stop lamp.
So last week I replaced that harness that runs from the fuse box to the left corner of the trunk as well as the tail light harness itself. All factory stuff, no splices. The left turn signal still cancels the cruise. At least I now have back-up lights and a steady left tail light.
The steering column is out of an '88 Monte Carlo (the car is a recovered theft). Anyone aware of any differences in the wiring? Everything seems to work otherwise.
TIA,
Jim
