In looking through my Eastwood catalog, on page 14 is a "Cry02 Co2 sprayer kit that sprays Co2 on the intercooler to chill it. It says it lowers charge air intake temps. dramatically. has anyone tried that kit? Is it easy to buy and refill tanks of CO2? This could be pretty trick!

not meaning you would be one using it, I have just seen quitye a few here.

the subaru sti's and mitsubishi evo VIII use it too. i think its more of a gimmick and just another extra thing to have break on your car. a Co2 canister bursting might suck. how much is the kit?

You can get CO2 refills at any welding supply store, or at a paint ball store (expensive). The canister will not break. It is actaully a good way to cool off your IC before a run. Lots of folks do not like them, but if used correctly, they work great.

It's $260. Check out

Maybe the car could run like it does now in winter weather when it's 80° out because the cold intercooler is a key. I have a PTE frontmount, so it could be easy to put on. I wouldn't want anyone to think the tank was nitrous though. This is a Buick, not a Chevvy.

ws6formula50, thanks for clarifying the ricer comment. I would rather take public transportation before I'd even ride in a ricer car!

Read closer! That picture is misleading as you also need to purchase the spray bar which is around $100!

Do a search. Lots have tried this method, and there have been concerns regarding the durability of the ic, not to mention the negative effects of ingesting CO2 into the motor. I believe Dave Bamford even tried it, and no longer uses it, if that tells you anything.

Good point Sam. I was only thinking of spraying it on the intercooler externally. HEY, maybe I could install another sprayer in the trunk to keep the drinks chilled at the Nationals!!!:)

Right, the problem with spraying it externally is the motor will ingest the CO2. Your turbo is sucking like mad. Some guys use nitrous, that way if the motor ingests it, it won't slow you down, but its pricey.

Why not just use a CO2 fire extinguisher and spray your IC before a run? They cant cost that much to refill.
