Bison is correct. I ignore the stampings. I've seen plenty of D5's that stall 400 rpm lower than what a stock GN converter will stall.
Had one this week that stalled to 1450-1500 @0. Talk about spooling like a turd. Wouldn't spool in 1st gear. Had a cut down stage 5 with a Precision .63 ex housing.

You are in California... Art Carr is still building trannys in California, Carr's California Performance Transmission. I am not sure if Bruce Toole is still in business, Performance Transmission in Sacramento, Ca. Don Wang is another good tranny builder, DRW transmission. Outside of California, you have Jakes Performance in Texas, Century Transmission in Houston, Texas. East Coast you have Extreme Automatics in Cincinnati, Ohio and CK Performance in NY. These are some of our Members on this Board...

The tag is from a 200-4R its just a pre-86 model without the F designation. Looks to be an 85 model from a quick glance at the numbers. Wrong converter is the largest part of your performance problems. If money is tight, you can pull it and swap in a stock d5 or other high stall budget 12" converter. But if you can afford to swap the trans to something else, it'd be a fine time to do it while it's out.

If it shifts good and you are happy with the shift points I'd do as above and swap in a new high stall converter. You will think it is a different car when you get it swapped. You have the attention of one of the board converter gurus. Ask him what he has to offer for your combo.
