Can some one tell me how to adjust the boost on my Deta Gate II, I bought this car with it already installed? There is a vacuume line going the the side barb and nothing connected to the top barb. I believe this is to compare boost press. to atmosphere pressure??? Do I screw the adjustment nut clockwise (CW) to increase and counter-clockwise (CCW) to decrease boost? - Or do I have this backwards?

You should not touch the screw in the top. That is pre-set from Turbonetics and is to seat the spring pressure inside the wastegate, not the boost. Do yourself a favor and make a homemade boost controller. You can even run it in your car if you wish. Here's what you do.

Connect the side barb from the wastegate and the barb off of the turbo to a T connection. Connect another line off of the T and into the inlet port of a SMALL air compressor regulator. You can buy one from Home Depot or any other hardware store. Next, connect the outlet port of the regulator to the top barb on the wastegate. To adjust boost, start by turning the knob on the controller counter-clockwise and see where your boost is at. It should be 5 to 7psi. Then, Slowly crank the knob clockwise until the disired boost level is aquired. See, the less boost going to the top port in the wastegate, the less boost you will have.

If you have adjusted the set screw, back it off, then turn it in until you feel the screw hit the plate inside. Then give it one turn and leave it alone.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again,

BuickMike,

Quick Question:

The original owner of the car has a vac line hooked to the side barb and nothing hooked to the top. Is this correct also - or is this an incorrect way to run the delta gate??

The car seems to hit 15 PSI fast then pull to 17PSI. But, at 4500 rpm the boost seems to run up to near 20PSI then I lift. I haven't been able to do any tuning because of the bad weather here in Chicago. I bought the car 1/31/04 and then added timing chain and oil pump rebuild. Now the car is back together. Just trying to work on the boost control.

The way it is connected now is incorrect. Where is that vacuum line connected? If it was connected straight to the Turbo I'd assume that you'ld only be seeing 5 to 7psi. Something is not right there.

The Vac line connected to the side barb is going to a tee that feeds the boost gauge - from intake vac line.
