Was out tuning doing some 0 to 60mph blasts with a gtech pro (only does 0-60, no 60ft.) Started out with a good 4.6 second blast and could not better it with 2 or 3 more runs. Towards the end I noticed I could not hook up very well at all in first, and times were much slower. Back in the garage and I looked over the tires and they are all scabbed up. It's like the leading edges of all the lugs are rolled back with a scab hanging were the roll stopped. The area behind the roll on top the lugs is very rough and jagged looking. Is this normal? It's almost as though a layer of rubber is shedding off the tire. First set of sticky tires I've had. One of my last runs was on concrete that was very abbrasive. The tires are BF Goodrich drag radials, 235-60-15. I'm sure the slower times were due to the "marble" effect of the scabs rolling under the tires. I was not doing any kind of a burnout before hand to heat up the tires. Had about 25psi in them. Anyway to get rid of the scabbiness? Maybe a good burnout on smooth tar?? Temps were a cool 47 degress out. Any thoughts or advice?

Need to update my sig. Have Razor's alky kit running 22 pds of boost with 93 octane. (awesome product and vender) Thanks for all your tuning help Julio.

I would get 'em wet, do a moderate burnout, drive around a bit and then check them. I don't recall ever having that problem with my Nittos.

That seems to be normal wear when doing hard launches and burnouts. Try swapping them from side to sides once in awhile, since unlike the Nittos BFG DR's are not directional. And they need to be rotated so that the outsides don't get "Chunked". I have helped a few PSCA Wild Street racers before they went to the M/T DR's. And they had similar experiences that you described.

Hope this info helps
