Yes, I just took my car apart to install a roller cam and I noticed that it had slightly shorter push rods on the drivers side. Think it's ok? It ran fine just had a bad lifter noise until it warmed up...I hope..... :(

Car has Champion ported heads, TE 60 FMI and a 206 206 cam. Replacing with a 212 212 roller, if all seems ok.

Did you actually ...

measure them, or is it a perceived length from looking at them? It seems like a strange way to create equal valve lift! lol
it seems like it would be a lot of trouble instead of putting the same thichness hd gaskets in? maybe had too much shaved off of one head when it was replaced? different rocker ratios? got you worried yet? just kidding!
Frankly I don't know, except it was to correct a problem.
I would take it down and investigate or better yet contact the previous owner and ask.
you don't suppose the valve stems are longer on that head? really I hope this is just a case of replacements and no one checked the length until you did. :)

Thanks for the quick reply, you raise many questions. My though was that the previous owner couldn't get the last 1 or 2 push rods out of the head on the passenger side and decided to leave them in. They look like the stockers, the push rods on the other side, which were ever so slightly shorter were heavier and all on piece, the passenger side rods had paint worn off them and looks like they are 3 pieces (2 ends on a shaft)

I also found a piece of sheet metal RTV'd inside the valley, I guess it was some McGyver contraption to keep the oil from splashing up???

the pan was ...

to direct the hot oil flow back to the oil pan in a more controlled manner. but the push rods may have been a hurry-job that never got corrected for bent rods. maybe one of the other guys may have an idea. did you get a new set w/the cam and kit?

I had a motor that had 3 different length pushrods. I think it was one of those "assembly line" rebuilds, and the different lengths were to make up for the different valve stem heights. If you go with adjustable rockers, then you wouldn't have to worry about it, but that is another expense, plus you would need new valve covers too.
