I was gonna go with the 208/208 cam for my 87 GN engine rebuild. But johnsperformance.com said they no longer make those. So I am curious what everyone thinks about the 206/206 or the 218/218. Which would be better for what I want to do? This is what I have done so far to the engine.

Stock heads ported n polished
stock intake port matched
65mm accufab tb and plenum
trw forged pistons
TE61 Turbo and 3000 stall converter for the tranny.

I am shooting for low 11's.

Hmm, but would it hurt to go with the 218/218? Cause its cheaper from aggressive auto and they are right by me then it would be from johns.

You asked for an opinion about what is better for your use. If you want the best, in my opinion, a 206/206 has great street manners and works great on the strip.

A 218/218 is a fast-ramp cam that is a little rough and noisy.

Out of MANY street/strip motors we have done, the majority have been the 206 and owners love it.

If it is a cost concern, then opinions don't count!:)

Best of both worlds, keep the stock cam if it is not worn!

i like the comp 212-212, many have been very fast with this cam. i'm surprised all the 204-214 users arent chiming in....seemed to be the "cam of the year" around here last year. that being said cam choice is not critical to run in the 11's. the stocker will even do quite well.

Ramchargers makes a 208/208 cam for the TR, 119.00. I bought one a few months ago.

Whats ur car runnin in the 1/4 mile?

I'm not running a 208/208 .I had a brand new one and a new 202/202 that I just recently sold . right now my car has a 204/214 and have yet to go to the track with it and really flog it . went once and ran into a knock problem :D :). I love the 204/214 great street cam . nice bottom/mid and pulls like Frankenstein on top :) . The mid range has a REAL "sweet spot" so to speak . like others who are using it you'll need a long road to find out when it stops pulling :D . I recently picked up a Reeds 214/208 and have not yet decided what I'm going to do with it .

Lets see, time in sig is 7.06 for the 1/8

ok then 7.06 x 1.55 = 10.94

I did just run 1/4 mile last weekend and the tune was off a little so here are the best #s
7.20 1/8 @ 96
11.29 1/4 @ 120.5

hope that helps convince you of what its capable of.
