Probably not. They made millions and probably wouldn't have changed their lives if they could replay it. People are still "cheating".

they made a lot of money playing a silly schoolyard game.. i don't think they really care all that much if they get into the hall of fame..

I'm not so sure. Look at the way society actually cares about those who play a stupid game we've no real connection with. The question to me is why we care that they did anything at all in a "game"? We Work for a living and for some silly reason admire those who work-out to provide entertainment in competition with others who do the same? Just once I'd like for someone to intellegently provide me the answer why I should admire others physical abilities so much, and be offended if they cheated, that I would regularly sit on my BUTT for hours on end, drinking beer and eating unhealthy foods, instead of being in the garage getting rust in my eyes and making something happen for myself, that I will sell to somebody else at a later time. Seriously, what is left of these athlete's "accomplishments"??? Your memory of how GREAT they were? Who gives a crap, what did they produce with their lives? Entertainment? I can entertain myself just fine without clowns on a field. If I wanna go to the circus, I sure wouldn't do it every weekend for a whole "season".
I think the whole thing is part of a scheme to make adults act like children with excitement over nothing of consequence.

they are entertainers. nothing more, nothing less.. their "value" is in the entertainment they provide, it's what they bring to society.
ultimately, they'll have their huge pile of money to help them overcome the disappointment of not getting their name cast into a bronze plaque that is on display in a building in Cleveland (or wherever the hell it is.. i couldn't possibly care less about them or their game, but i do understand their "value" to society).

i couldn't possibly care less about them or their game, "

If I cared even rat's ass about ANY celebrities, that would be too much - then shoot me..........

Pretty much my thoughts, exactly.
What started out as a pastime, many yrs ago, has as many such activities have, evolved into MONEY ......Once that happened, it was fast headed down hill.
They are all $$ driven to a point of being absurd.

It's pretty hard to get worked up over some kid with a HS education "playing" a game making $8 million a year while for every one like him, there are a couple million productive workers, scientists, inventors, etc that are making it on 1% of that...
