I need some tires to use at the track.

My first thought was using some 26" ET streets on some 8" rallies I have.

Now I'm considering buying some 255/50/16 BF Goodrich Drag Radials on my 16 x8 rims.

How do the BFG DR's do as far as handling? Treadwear?

Before you make a recommendation, keep in mind I only put about 5000 miles a year on my car. NEVER drive in rain or snow (car has only been caught in the rain twice)I might race a maximum of 6 times per year.

I drive my car daily with its 275 / 60 / 15 BFG DR's. I've never experienced any traction problems. Keep in mind I havent really done alot of burn outs on em yet either so they still have alot of tread left.

I've only run these since the tail end of last summer so I can't comment on how many miles they will last, but I have no complaints at this point. Even without a burn out, these grip better than any street tire i've had in the past. Heh heh ... they gripped SO good, that I now need to rebuild my trans! :D

you'll wear out the DR's in a year

the ET's quicker

DR's are like regular radial tires except in the rain

ET Streets are basically terrible on the street...bias ply tire with soft sidewall

nittos... I have been hearing a lot of good things about the nittos, they seem really respectable for drag radials. My buddy runs them on his ss and hooks good

A couple of the local guys here purchased these recaps out of North Carolina.......about $150 for the pair. They're real soft rubber with lots of tread. You don't need to do burnouts, just clean them off and they hook like slicks. Look good too and come in 16s. If interested in more information, email Jack at jdsgnx@hotmail.
