I've been running Nitto drag radials for years. I know BFG had them out before the Nittos. I am now noticing a bunch of different companies such as MT, M&H, Hoosier, etc. are producing drag radials.

I run my DRs all the time, street and strip. I like the Nitto's because of the relatively long tread life, and ability to handle bad weather, etc fairly well. I guess my trade off is traction.

My car is not a daily driver, but it will see street duty several days a week, and about 5 - 10 trips to the strip a year.

I'm considering another DR for better traction, but don't want to lose driveability on the street.

Other that Nittos, what are some of you guys running. What are the pros and cons ? Tread life ? Traction ? Streetabililty ?

I don't think you'll find a drag tire with any better streetabilty or tread life than the Nittos IMO. I've ran as fast as 1.73 60fts with the Nittos but they can be far from consistent if the track isn't prepped well. Don't have any direct experience with the BFGs but I've heard plenty about how slick they can get in the rain. Not sure if the new MTs are available yet so I haven't heard any input on them. You might want to consider a set of MT streets or slicks for the track only and then run the Nittos on the street if your budget will allow it.

I went with Hoosier Quick Time Pros, 3 grooves for DOT legality and only use them for racing. They hook way better than the Nittos too and allow for higher boost launches. :D

Pair of cheap AR rims and I can use them on either TR car. :)

I keep the Nittos and all their advantages for street driving and hook better at the track while still running a "street tire." for racing. ;)

I need to get 10K min. out of my street tires and the Nittos are looking good for me to do that.

Just the way I looked at it.

i dont think many have been able to try out the mickey thomspsons yet as most are on back order. I love the nittos, i have pulled a 1.73 60 ft but as stated they are not as consistant as a race tire, but they handle very well in the wet and it looks as though i may get 10,000 out of mine even after the 60 or so burnouts at the track

im running a 275/60 15 and yes they rubbed a tiny bit until i got the airbags installed. I have worn out shocks and springs though. I've heard the 50s rub becuase they bulge out more on our small 7" rims

my 275/50's don't rub. No spacers on an 8' terstar rim. Alum drums to fring em out a tiny bit more..

I was not aware that Hoosier made drag radials. Can't find info ..

I'm running the 275/50-15 BFG Drag Radials on stock T wheels on my black car...and let me tell you it's totally retarded. I've NEVER in my entire life felt a car launch so hard on street tires. This car is a freak nothing else to say. :p I have the Hotchkiss full upper and lower supension with 90-10 and 50-50 drag shocks and it's just a killer combo.

I hear stories of people smoking 275/60 and 275/50 drag radials and getting 2.x 60' at the racetrack and I just laugh. And this is not a low hp car I have here it's pushing 500+hp easy. I'm not joking there's not a single street car that will hang with me on the launch...except maybe a high hp 4WD one. I can launch around 7-8 solid PSI with no burnout what so ever, that's something really crazy.

Maybe it's a driver thing also...people are pretty fast to blame the car when sometimes they don't even know how to drive. :D

well anyway that my setup...BFG Drag Radials on stock T wheels and no rub what so ever

tires

I just put some of the new micky thompson drag radials on and they worked great. These are on my new t-type,its just mostly stock tho. this is with no burn out just pull up and go, 1.801 sixty ft.ran a 8.15 1/8 and 12.86 1/4. Tire pressure was at 23 # these are some very nice tires. the size was 275x50x15

I ran the BFG's and almost wrecked the car at 70 MPH with the cruise on. Just driving along minding my own business and ran though a small rain shower. The car went totally sideways. I only had maybe 10 runs on these tires at the time with a ton of tread showing.

Now I do not use them on the car full time anymore. They are only 185 -60's and very slick. I can cut 1.80's 60' like nothing. This has been my only experience with any drag radials.

Tires

I have a set of BFG's and went smack into a telephone pole!!!! goin about 60-70. TOTALED my Ttype Clone!!!!! Luckily im still alive!!! Not sure on the size of the tires....if i check tomorrow when I rip my engine out of it for my WE-4 I'll update.

American Racing...

(the old MacCreary's,) plenty of thread (grooves) for rainy days, reasonably priced, last 7-12K miles depends on your driving.

I've had great luck with my BFG 275/50 Dr's!

I have cut as good as 1.74's and I have a open rear!

Mine have about 7000 miles and are nearly @ the cords. I have driven this car everywhere on the tires - raining or not and had zero problems (even bald).

I spun a 180 more than once in my brothers car with bfg drag radials on a wet road. I will never buy them.

hahaha I laugh so hard at your stories guys :p I'm really starting to think that it's really a driver thing....some can drive and some.....well just CAN'T
