I have found the perfect spot to drill but is it okay to drill with the pipe on the car. Will the filings hurt anything thanks John

The filings can chew up the turbo if you're drilling upstream of it.

I doubt the filings do anything to the turbo as they'll be blown through the housing upon initial startup, not like there's any serious exhaust gas velocity at that point to cause the filings to hurt the wheel.

Grease the end of the bit and use a small diameter thermocouple like the Westach.

If you are drilling a hole for a 1/8" NPT threaded hole or something maybe a shop vacuum cleaner hose near the drill.

Clean the bit when you start to break through and re-grease it.

Using a Westach clamp on probe won't create many chips. :)

Get the Racin Jason set-up and move the O2 sensor.

Post turbo is too cool to be meanignful.
If you go pre turbo, well, I would blow any metal chips thru the turbo.

I was told by a friend to drill mine out with the motor running. This would blow any chips out towards me instead of through the turbo. Also, start with a small bit and work your way up to the size you need. This too will help make the chips very very small.
