This information should answer your question:

Methanol is a colorless liquid, completely miscible with water and organic solvents and is very hydroscopic. It boils at 64.96° C (148.93° F) and solidifies at -93.9° C (-137° F). It forms explosive mixtures with air and burns with a nonluminous flame. It is a violent poison; drinking mixtures containing methanol has caused many cases of blindness or death. Methanol has a settled odor. Methanol is a potent nerve poison. Key physical properties are:

Melting Point : -97.7 0C

Boiling Point : 65 0C

Relative Density : 0.79

Formula: CH3OH

Molecular weight: 32.042 kg/kmol

Heat of Formation -201.3 MJ/kmol

Gibbs Free Energy -162.62 MJ/kmol

Freezing point: -97.7 °C

Boiling point: 64.6 °C (at atmospheric pressure)

Ask your alky kit vendor what to do. I never drain my system (its a DIY). I think its better to keep it full so it doesn't come in contact with the air and its moisture.

If it freezes, you got bigger problems to worry about than some car part ;)

Dont drain your Alky tank! When that happens (i know with an SMC) the pump will go out. It'll sieze up and not work anymore, then you gotta buy a new pump.

Just keep alky in there.

It won't freeze. Why doesn't windshield washer fluid freeze? Because its got alky in it. Our typical alky concentrations are higher than whats in ww fluid.

We live in Boston, garage is unheated, its pretty cold in winter and it doesnt freeze.

Anything is possible, what I'm saying is, it would take something like the Sun burning out or the next Ice Age for alky to freeeze. In that event, you got more problems to worry about than your car  You know, like living ;)

Will alky's tendency to draw moisture cause problems if left setting for say, an entire winter?

No Worries, just make sure your cap is on. ;)

I should post Alky antifreeze for sale....

I have windshield wiper fluid in my garage that is a solid brick in the winter and I no longer live in northern Canada. Even the winter windshield fluid is only good to about -50.

I'm purely guessing, but washer fluid probaly only has a small trace of Alky/Meth mixed in it

From the diesel sites i visit, i believe the prestone winter blend windshield washer fluid is about 30% methanol. I read that a few years ago.
