EGR noise?

My EGR vavle started to make some noise recently. I makes a chattering noise at idle, if I pull the vaccum line off it goes away. I have also started to get some knock I did not have before, dont know if that could have anything to do with it.

Mine made a similar noise but at part throttle that sounded just like a cold forged piston rattle, drives me nuts as I hear every little noise the car makes as I'm sure all TR owners do. Needless to say the vacuum line going to it gets a golf tee in it and it only gets one golf outing a year for emissions testing

Will disabling the egr cause any problems other than the obvious, I like the golf tee trick, very simple to change back to "stock" when you hve to.
