i intend to either get new hoses or try to make theses stick.

but i am wondering ,should boost be in this point of the vaccum system

do the check valves have anything to do with this

trying to tune car and eliminate some knock, car never runs the same ,boost is changing(or boost reading)(i assume boost not biulding, cause the 02's go up) because of the lines blowing off

thanks

think i found it

just read a post on bad check valves

so do i understand correctly? the check valves should only let vaccum (one direction) and not boost(the other)

wonder how much this effecting my knock problem(egr??)

well i have another problem to check into, hey lot of things getting fixed here along the way

Yes, check valves only have one way directions. Like a diode in electronics. I would check them all. One of mine was bad and it was doing the same thing as you. Replaced it and all was good. Might want to check them all for good measure.

HTH,

Yes, it sounds like a check valve is bad.. Also, check the little filter in the egr solenoid,,,, it gets dirty over time and doesn't allow the vacume signal to bleed off when the egr is triggered by the ecu,, this will cause odd drivability problems, and is not uncommon. Might plug the vac hose to the egr VALVE itself, and see if there's a difference in driveability...

thanks for the replys tta1401 and warpspeed

the filter is new i put that on when i put the motor in,should put new checkvalves too i guess

overall driveability isnt bad, i stumbled onto this idea while trying to tune the car and trying to troubleshoot some knock

every time i gave her the pedal, i noticed the lines blowing off, could watch the boost fall off in a wot

so ounce i get these on, it will be intersting to see, what happens under wot with the new checkvalves and lines not popping off

but i am wondering ,does the egr function under wot??

thanks guys

No, the EGR isn't used during WOT. HTH

Good call Warpspeed. I had that problem too.;)

well even though i read gm no longer carried, i called anyway and confirmed,my local dealer couldnt get em

local autozone only had the dual port one(hvac, criuse)

so i found an extra in my parts collection in wich it pulled vaccum only one way

but the lines are still blowing off

maybe i should just try to find 2 new ones(egr, canister)

Stock setup?

Do you still have the stock setup where the vacuum lines are inserted into a rubber fitting that then attaches to the solenoid?

I had this same problem years ago, and I simply ran new vacuum tubing directly to the solenoid and eliminated the rubber fitting. Haven't had a line come off in ten years.

hi v8 kilr, yes i still have the rubber fitting, the fitting is staying on its the hose popping out of the fitting

that sounds like a good i dea, i have replaced one check valve, and thought i changed the others with a known good one, but they are still popping off under boost

so not sure, cause even though its still popping off, i am not loosing the boost any more

thanks
