Electric Fan not working properly?

My electric fan for the radiator only runs when the motor is running. Isn't it supposed to run for a while with the motor off?

Depends on the coolant temp. Is your high speed working?

Sorry for the stupid question but how do I tell? It's blowing pretty hard when the motor is running. It's 100 degrees outside and it only kicks on when the motor is running.

Look for the large relay with 2 connectors on the drivers side fenderwell area.

Find the dark green wire with yellow stripe on it and it should be a thinner wire than the larger power wires.

With the car running at idle take a piece of wire and ground it to the battery or a good ground on the car and put the other end onto that relay terminal by SLIGHTLY sliding the connector back about 3/16" or so so you can see metal but still have the connector on the relay.

Shut the car off and the fan should run on delay. Remove the ground wire and it should shut off.
