Hey guys i need some feedback, I currently have a non turbo 231 v6 in my limited ed. regal. I want to go turbo now and was wondering if i could just convert my current engine or should i just go and buy a used turbo engine(I have already found a seller)? I also have questions regarding what else I may have to change on the car if i decide to swap out the stock engine. I read somewhere online that the suspension is different so I would have to upgrade mine.

additional info

Oh, and for additional information, I rebuilt my current engine about a year and a half ago because my rocker arm was already worn and it got punched through and well long story short i damaged a piston head and the cylinder head. The engine is fixed and now runs decently but I now have power issues because it seems that the engine is already worn. I would probably have to over bore the cylinders and put in oversized pistons to fix this problem, so should i just go for the used turbo engine or should I rebuild the current engine and convert it to a turbo? Oh and my car is an 87 Limited edition Regal if that helps any.

A few quick differences off the top of the head.

Crankshaft is different, turbos are rolled fillets n/a 3.8's are not.
You gotta get the exhaust manifolds, etc.
It would be expensive piecing it together I would do a complete engine tranny purchase instead.

Wire harness for the few sensors that are different to the turbo
Then you are gonna need posi trac and 3.42 gears or somewhere close

Gn and t types have quick/fast ratio power steering,Hvy dty suspension, 8.5 10 bolt rearend(u probably have 7.5), radiator, etc

Good luck

oh my car already has the posi trac. the seller for the engine says its everything i need including the electronics and piping. so what do u guys think? its a turbo v6 from a 86 gn
