I have a loud engine tick at idle.

Have no idea what it could be, Iam thinking valve tap exhaust leak, something like that.

Or worst case senario, its more internal than that.

Anyone else have a tick at idle??? If so what was the problem.

Do you have an oil pressure gauge? If so, what's the pressure at idle? Does the tick go away above idle?

No, I do not have an oil pressure gauge.

And yes it does go away once above idle.

You definately need to get yourself a oil pressure gauge. Possibility you have low oil pressure at idle and it builds up high enough with more engine speed for the tick to go away. I wouldn't run the car very much at all until you get a gauge on there. In the mean time you could try changing the oil and check it for metal particles, and put some higher viscosity oil in it to see if it goes away or quits down. You could even go the extra mile and send out an oil sample to be examined. They can tell you if there's bearing material, cam material or any other type of metal in the oil. That can potential save you a lot of money if you find out the engine needs a rebuild or just a new cam/lifters before something catastrophic happens. Without being able to actually hear the noise you have it's hard to tell if it would be a lifter noise or bearing noise you could be hearing.

Put a screwdriver against the cam sensor and listen.Mine was ticking and sounded just like a lifter.

ditto that..

I took a sawed off hockey stick and tracked mine to the cam sensor too.
new cam sensor still on shelf though...

do it get quieter/go away after its warmed up ? if so it may be your cam sensor

I had the same problem. Ended up being the crank sensor out of adjustment on the balancer. Replaced with a new sensor as a matter of course and adjusted with two match books, one on each side
