ESC and EIC questions

I am a little confused on this stuff. What does the ESC do for you? Also, what does the electronic ignition control do for you? I have an idea but I wanna know more. Also, I replaced mine (EIC) w/ a O'reilly's brand. Are those reliable? I would of went w/ the ACDelco but didn't have the money. How could you tell if they are bad? Sorry for all the questions but I was just wondering. Thanks a bunch!

Sean the ESC generally describes the knock detection and control system on our cars. We often refer to the ESC module on the ps fender, which is the knock sensor physical interface and also makes the hardware decision on whether knock is happening or not. It signals the ecu over the single ESC line.
