I have a new gm radiator cover (for a regualr regal) that I am going to have the shroud tabs welded onto. Afterwards I want to paint it as close to factory black as possible.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Joel

Paint reply.

I imagine any can of good metal paint will do. You could use a flat black that will match the factory color. Then again something with a gloss will make it easier to clean. Just prime it real good before painting. I personally am going to have a chrome one installed. I painted my factory one a aluminum color and it looks sharp. Check it out in my web page. It really adds some color to the engine compartment.

There was a discussion abnout core support color where I read they were dipped, difficult to replicate color. No idea if the piece you speak of is the same. I always just paint my engine compartment parts semi-gloss black. Matches quite well.........at least good enough for me :D

I have had good luck with Eastwood's Underhood Black. Comes in aerosol and quart cans.

Yes.......you can get semi-gloss black anywhere. Walmart sells it for a couple bucks a can. If you want it to match the core support perfectly, paint the core support also. Once all the surrounding parts are painted with any shade of black that you choose, it will become the "correct" color.
