When I put my exhaust system together awhile back I used regular clamps. My question is, can I go back and replace them with nicer band clamps or are the pipes crimped a certain way now so I cant?

Thanks

If the pipes will start slide apart, then you should be able to use the band clamps...If you put the u-clamp very close to the edge and tightened it until the test pipe flared....then there might be a problem but I doubt it will come apart anyway....

(last time I will every do that!)

On one of my other cars, I got a pipe spreader and hammered on it for a while. It took the kink out of the pipe. Then I used a band clamp on it.

Since then I've used band clamps on everything....except my broken wrist....:)

Good Luck if ya got Stainless pipes. My pipes fit perfect but even w/ Heavy Duty Stainless band clamps cranked down all the way, that wasnt enuff to tighten the pipes together. After i got done, i hit the tail pipes to check for rattles and watched my mufflers swing down !!! :( Oh well...back to regular old exhaust clamps. I was gonna tack weld em and use clamps, but said the hell w/ it, i dont go to too many shows where they look at the bottom of the car.
