I just got a cat-back system and test pipe in for my 87T (to replace the original exhaust). I got most of the exhaust off, but while removing the cat-convertor to bracket bolts I broke the ratchet mechanism in my Craftsman ratchet which Sears gladly replaced. I sprayed Liquid Wrench over the two remaining stubborn bolts and will try again tommorow to remove them.

Here's my question...is there a gasket that will go between the cat-back and the test pipe? I stopped by a few parts stores on my way to Sears and they weren't sure and their books weren't showing anything. My Poston's/Kirban's catalouges aren't showing anything either.

Please let me know, as I would like to get the exhaust on tommorow if I can.

Thanks,

Rob

No gasket on the cat flange. Try some heat on the bolts. A small torch will work. 2 out of 3 studs broke on mine,so I cut off the cat and put on a test pipe. My car had 56,000,but it was a N.J. car so salt did it in.

Machine Gun and Steve,

Thanks for the info. That's what I was thinking but was not sure. I may have to go buy a small propane tank tomorrow to get those two stubborn bolts off. I appreciate both of your responses.

No problem. Try some PB blaster and if you get a propane, get a tank of MAP gas as it burns a little hotter.

I had to end up going to an exhaust shop and getting the nut cut off. It wasn't going to come off anyway else.

Okay, I put a 2 1/2 inch system with polished s/s magnaflows (from Jay's GN) on the car. I installed a test pipe at the same time. The system is quiet, makes a bit of noise when stepped on.

My car had the original cat/exhaust on it. Wow, the power difference is incredible!

A good system I would recommend to anyone.

there is a gasket it is graphite and is slotted on one side to get two bolts in first came with my hooker system will try to get a picture of it

NAPA did not have a clue. Do you have a part number by chance? Mine is bolted together and is not leaking.
