My new ATR Crossflow exhaust is finally here!!:D I'm pretty sure that's why we got 6" of snow today. Anyway, since I studied the instructions at least 5 times today I noticed that I need the origional muffler hanger in the rear to mount the system to. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure mine left long before I got the car. A call to my local parts store was no help, neither was gmparts direct. Anyone know where I can get one of these hangers? Can I fabricate something from a common universal hanger? Thanks.

I would check Ebay and Brian Weaver or Mike McCoy in the used parts section.

Make sure you are sitting down when they tell you the price of a used one.

Sure something could be fabricated, probably not too easily to be similar to the stocker.

Part is discontinued from GM I believe. :(

Alan were actually designing 1 now made out of stainless.Should be ready in about a month. The last new ones that have been going on ebay have been pulling about $100!!!! Shame is a little over a year ago they could be had for about $35.I should of stock piled. ;)

I knew somebody would step up to the plate and make one. :)

Hope it's rubber hung and all like the stocker.

Should be a good seller too.

Just used my NOS one last year on the GN. :(

Anyone have a pic of this thing? I know about the cat hanger, but I haven't had a stock exhaust system on my car since I got it. I'm wondering what valuable piece of my GN I've discarded now.....

Thank god that one is still up front, I need the hanger out back that supports the muffler. I picked up a couple of universal ones today. I'm going to head out now and see what I can do. I'll let you know.

I have that one, too. Last time I needed one I bought 2, so I have an extra GM one laying around. I guess I should put it in the safe deposit box at the bank.

I don't remember what the stock arrangement in the back looks like. It might all still be up there for all I know.

Problem solved. It turns out that the exhaust that was on my car was using the origional rear sliding mounts to hold the tailpipes up. Myself and Mr. Sawzall soon fixed that problem. :D Anyway, the project went smoother than I expected. (that NEVER happens to me) Everything fit great, nice solid mounting, overall I'm very happy with the system. Sounds mean too. Took about 3 hours total, while working on the garage floor with the rear up on jackstands.

Great, I also have the crossflow and love it. Just enough noise at idle, no bad drone, and sounds awesome @ WOT.

I shall now ponder for all eternity whether y'all were talking about the cat hanger, the tailpipe hangers, or the tailpipe brackets???

:D

I'm a little confused, too. It started out like the tailpipe hangers, but turned into a cat hanger thing when BWEAVY started talking stainless repros. Then the pic was posted. I still don't know what I'm missing, if anything. I was considering moving to the 3" ATR cross-flow kit so I'm not sure what I'd need.

If you have the cat. hanger in the front all you need are the stock hanging metal brackets in the rear that the stock crossflow holds onto to make the ATR work.

On a stock Buick the ATR system is complete and the muffler hangs off the stock brackets in the back and the pipes hang off the stock cat. hanger in the front.

Crossflow ATR 3" system is what I'm talking about. :D

This is what I'm not clear about. I took my stock system off 5 years ago and I don't remember how it was hanging up there. I guess I'll have to get under it and see what I've got once this f'n snow goes away. I've got some LCAs to install so I'll be under there anyway.

Thanks,
Jim

ATR crossflo muff

Anyone know if and where there is pic of just how the ATR crossflow is constructed on the inside?

It would be interesting to know what the inside design of the muffler looks like and what it is about it the design that can kill the dreaded drone of the TR.

Actually nothing "kills" the drone.

Just deeper in tone due to the 3" pipes.

A bit more growl than the 2.5" systems.

I think the crossflow muffler was pretty much a straight thru design when I looked at it. Wasn't all that huge either.

One side puts out a little more due to the one inlet 3" pipe shooting in from one end.
