External Fuel Pump Set Up Question

Am putting a external pump on my car with a sumped tank and am trying to keep the stock sending unit intact for the gas gauge.. Do I have to do anything special with the wiring for the old intank pump?? Filling tank up on Sunday.. Tia..

I just took out the intank pump an replaced with a piece rubber hose that goes off to the side of the tank. The sending unit stays the same. I just ran my hot wire the external pump and the grounded it to the place where I mounted. Nothing real special. I used my stock feed line as my new return line and turned the factory filter backwards. hope this helps. JW

Pretty much did the same.. Was wondering about the old pump wiring hanging inside the tank..Still live and no problems??
