My car still has all the factory A/C parts on it but the freon leaked out years ago. Now I'd like to get the system back up and working. I believe I caused the freon to leak out years ago when the engine was removed. The car has 56,000 miles on it and mostly sits in the garage. The only lines that were ever removed was the connection at the compressor. Where can I get all the correct seals?

Rockauto has a seal kit, it's GPD 1321269, and it's less than four bucks.

And O'Reilly's, Advance Auto Parts, and AutoZone carry the o-ring kit. It's a universal kit with a bunch of o-rings - there are two of the larger ones you need at the rear of the compressor. The kit is usually not in the stores, have to order it in-store and get it the next day.

part # 26735 at both Advance and O'Reillys. cost was about $5.50

Maybe also want to pick up an orifice tube as well. it's $2 and in stock.

Also a new accumulator and vacuum it well. The desiccant in the accumulator has to be useless by now.

do they accept paint very well?

Success is all in the prep work....clean/degrease the surface (brake cleaner - no residue), scuff it (scotch brite pad), clean it again, tape-off fittings, prime and spray a few coats. wear powder-free gloves when cleaning the part so the oils from you skin doesn't contaminate the surface.

rock auto has the spectra one for $13 plus $7 shipping. http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=877654&cc=1020957&jsn=422&jsn=422

you could also powder coat it as well. don't know the cost but Kirban has a powder coated one for $70 plus shipping. http://www.kirbanperformance.com/product/44340/GM+AC+Delco+AC+ACCUMULATOR+EVAPORATOR+RECEIVER+DRIER,+POWDER+COATED+BLACK+#7768.html
