I just bought a GN not to long ago, guy said it ran 20-21 lbs on 93 octane and alky i get the car hook up my scan master and get knock any where from 2-10 degrees, at times im not even full into the car, i dont want to blow it up and i just got it, i havent done anything but set the tps and iac, adj fuel to 48lbs static and thats it. alchy is coming on because ive refilled it twice since ive had the car. So what the hell is going on, i wanna experience this gn power and im ridin round like a lil b#4tch cuz i dont want to mess up my new nice car. Its got a nice combo ive only driven it a few times, what could be the problem? What causes false knock, how do i determine if its knocking at shift point all i have is a scanmaster II for tuning any suggestions? What should i do i need help bad the weather is starting to get nice and i wanna beat some mudstang butt with out fear or embaress ment of bloowing a head gasket!

Are you getting wheel spin?Sometimes mine gets knock when it breaks the tires loose.

no wheel spin

Nope no wheelpin, what kind of octane boosters can i put in it since i dont have access to race gas today, can i pick up something from autozone or a meijers or something?

someone told me that as knock sensors get older, they will get more sensitive. maybe try a new knock sensor(this is all hearsay, i have no personal experiance cause my car doesnt have a motor in it ;) ).

maybe you should turn the boost down until the knock goes away or try some good fuel? (forget "octane boosters")

Turned boost down to 19-29lbs and no knock or very small knock now. WOT 02s are high 800 plus i did increase fp by a couple of lbs so no i will take a lbs out and get leaner!

First of all it sounds like 48 lbs of FP is way too high. You need to do some tuning with the scanmaster. You can get a general idea from your o2 readings for FP. You should be in the mid to high 700 range. If its higher than that you are running too much fuel pressure. Before you turn down the FP turn down that boost and work your way up. You may see some transitional knock and over time you should get a good feeling when its false knock. That is alot of boost for pump gas without seeing any knock. Start with 43 FP and 16 lbs of boost and go from there.
