Is there a way to rig the fan to turn on the way it should at 165, but also have a manual override switch? I currently just have a manual switch. It is becoming a pain to turn on the switch everytime the car gets over 160 and turning it off when it gets too cool. Thanks guys.

The fan 'turn-on' point is set by the chip. Have you checked your relays? Erics chips set the turn on point to be at 167 (i believe to be exsact)

He already mentioned he has a manuel switch.

But yes, you can have a switch and still have the fan kick on at the correct temp.

Could also be something like coolant tempature sender. (The sending unit that tells the comp what the coolant's at) Do you have a scantool that shows what the temp is, if it's the same as the gauge then you can cross that out.

yeah, scantool works as does the temp guage in the dash. There is a sensor in the radiator, but the person who owned it before me disconnected it and wired the fan direct with a switch as he did not trust the computer to turn it on and did not trust the sensor. I'd imagine it works as it should, but I also want a way to override it in case. Thanks.

Just so you'll know, there are 3 things that make the fan run:

1. ECM turns on low based on the chip setting temp.
2. Switch on the intake grounds the high speed relay for high temp (not sure of the temp, but recall ~210?). Most instructions for a manual switch instruct you to ground this same circuit using your manual switch.
3. A/C pressure switch grounds the high relay and low relay - essentially running max fan whenever the compressor is on.

well this is a non-A/C car, but the fan only has 1 speed, high, as far as I know.
