fan ?

My fan is coming on and off what can I check for? I dont have a switch to turn it on and off.car gets hot while idle and sometimes fan comes on and sometimes not.Need help thanks...

Tim: Is it possible that the fan could be coming on when it should due to the car running too hot, raidator losing fluid or pressure. Had that happen a few years back and it turned out that the radiator needing recoring and consequently was not cooling as it should. Just a thought.

maybe but it comes on when car is turned off to cool like it shound (sometimes) but I was messing with some wires to the fan and it would come on and off so I think it is a short somewhere I did get the car done now and everything buttoned up real nice so I will see ya soon at h.b. thanks

Sounds like you found the general area and problem, you just need to define it a little further. Looking forward to see any of the San diego crew. Lou, Morgan, & I were there by ourselves this A.M. Hope that some of you guys are going to come out or up for the dyno shoot-out coming up Sat., 05-13-2006. I know that it is a ways for you guys to travel, but it should be a real kick, not to mention free food. Well, not exactly free.

Hi,
Check the notorious high speed fan delay relay. It's the big one on the driver's fender well close to the firewall. I replaced mine a few years ago with oe part,now seeing weird stuff again. Note: batteries in poor condition drive these things nuts, also their location leads to moisture problems.Just a thought...
