Anyone have a good way to do this? I was thinking of using a long clear tube and a funnel then blowing in the end.

I've always liked to do it this way...

Get some clear vinyl tubing that will fit on the nozzle end of the gear oil bottle. Attach the tubing to the nozzle, and then put the other end in the oil fill hole of the rear end. Now poke a small hole in the bottom of the gear oil bottle and supply pressurized air through the hole in the bottle.

By doing it this way, it is really easy to get all of the oil out of the bottle, and it takes no time at all.

Just keep in mind that there is generally a seal on the bottle underneath the nozzle, and if you were to pressurize the bottle before removing the seal, you'd probably make a big mess http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/img/smilies/biggrin.gif

Get a lil hand pump just for this at the auto store and u will have it. Money well spent.

Hand pump

I agree with the other post. Get a hand pump, they are cheap and they get the job done. I would not even think about that job without one.

P.S. - I like the tip on putting the lube in hot water before filling.

Jack the rear of the car up and support it with jack stands on the frame. Now let the rear end drop all the way down. This should give you enough room to work above the rear end.

I was able to fill it with a cheap plastic funnel that had a flexible end on it.

The name of this thread....... Sorry it just struck me funny, lol:D

It IS funny! The way ya do it is ya fill an enema bag with the goo, then...

Anyway, the last time I filled it up I used one of those cheapo, squeezable plastic ketchup bottles with a squirt tip (you can find them at 99 cent and Dollar Tree type stores). The only drawback is I had to refill the squeezable a few times to get the correct fluid level.

I like the ideas of using a pump or attaching clear plastic tubing to the gear oil bottle.

If you have a posi unit, don't forget the posi additive: GM #1052358...about $9...eliminates chatter.

I used to use a teaspoon to fill. Kept me in the garage longer so I did not have to listen to the B!!!!! whine so much. Now, I fill it with a pump and go do other fun stuff. She can Whine at herself now!! Hurray!
