You might have shorts where they tied into the locks and lights for the alarm system..

The stuff was't working when the customer brough over to me, there were no wires that were splice into the car it was all with plastic connectors.

Mines had this wiring for 20 or so years and not even any smoke. :D

That pic makes me start to get a headache. I had a car like that once. i looked under the dash considering installing a stereo and it was all cluttered, spliced, unlabeled, looped, and covered in black gooey electrical tape.

I sold it a little while later. It was not worth the headache to me.

THIS THREAD MAKES LAUGH SINCE I WAS JUST GOING THROUGH THIS WITH MY LATEST PROJECT TONIGHT. WIRES GOING TO NO WHERE. THE RADIO HAD LITTLE TINY WIRE NUTS.. THE BOOST GAUGE LIGHT WAS ON ALL THE TIME/WIRED WRONG. i ripped most of it out and added my own boost gauge wired it correctly and tied the light into the hood mounted fuel pressure gauge, added a scanmaster and alky kit from julio. now there is a bunch more crap under the dash but it all at least now goes somewhere and at least makes sense to me. i gotta cut some connectors off another dash harness for the radio next.

Wire nuts are cool.

They also work great too.

I put all those wires there so after a few pondering minutes I can usually figure out where they all go. ;)

I wouldn't like to see a car I didn't wire looking like that however. :p

Only smoke I've ever had was when my window switch almost caught fire on a WOT direct scan test while I was closing the window at 90mph.

Luckily it put itself out and Pep Boys had a cheesy replacement. :p
