Fluid level with PTS deep pan?

I have a customer's car here that has the PTS deep pan and sump kit. When the guy brought it here the fluid level was up to at least the bend in the dipstick. When I drive the thing it was puking fluid after the trnany got hot. In short, it puked the fluid down to the line that says "add 1 qt" and at this point quit leaking as far as I can tell. My question is this. With the DEEP pan holding that much extra fluid, and the guy filling it up to the bed on the stick, might this be a good reason why it was puking fluid? Where on the dipstick with this pan should be a safe level with the bottom feed sump kit also from PTS? I'm pretty sure the fluid was coming from the hose on top of the tranny but can't say 100% until I get under there and investigate further...any help will be appreciated greatly!
