Basically, the tank float rheostat or the wiring for it is open.

Or it could be a full tank of gas!

If the sender wire isn't making contact between the sender and the gauge, it will read full+. The sender input must be between 90 ohms and zero ohms (grounded).

Got the problem fixed it had barely any gas in it but it reads ok now

Mine does this too. It reads almost full but I only have 5 gal in the tank cause I drained it. I also have the vdo gauge cluster. What should I check to get it working properly?
