Just bought an 87 GN with many mods. The FP was 65 line off. I lowered it to 55 but then it stumbled when starting out from a light. I tried 60, same thing. Put it back to 65 and it runs good again. However, I only got 10 mpg in city, 20 mpg on highway. It also has a 3000 stall, 009's, dual stage fuel pump, ATR downpipe and exhaust, PT62 turbo. Is the FP ok to leave at 65? How can I increase my gas milage? Thanks.

Who's chip is in the car??? Most of the chip burners recommend around 43psi, line off. 65 is enough to fuel John Force and faaaaaarr too much for 009's!

I don't know whose chip is in it. Can you recommend a chip for me? It sure runs good at 65 lbs though. Does the extra gas just return to the tank? Am I hurting anything running it this way?

your fuel pressure gauge is a POS-

what brand and is it a rail mount?

id suggest something that you can screw into the end of the fuel rail using the scrader valve for best accuracy-

hope that helps-

everyone i know that puts miles on a rail mount dies eventually!

VDO rail mount. It was given to me with the car. Had been plumbed in with 7th injector set up. How would I know if it is bad? Buy a new one and compare them?

Put the fuel pressure at 43# with the line off. As for chips Red Armstrong chips for the 009s are GREAT!!!

I had a VDO on my car that read 43#'s. It died and I bought a new Jegs liquid filled for 20 bucks and it read 31#'s. I checked with another gauge that also read 31#'s. It's a wonder I didn't blow gaskets with the VDO gauge on the car. Like previously mentioned, I would double check the gauge first.

I live in Leroy about 36 miles away. Get ahold of me and come over on a saturday or a sunday. I got a scanmaster 2 that we can hook up to it and get your fuel dialed in. I also have a turbolink set up on the way. If you work 2nd shift like me, then you could come over during the week.

Hi Rick, feel free to bring it by sometime and I'll put one of my gauges on it, I know they are accurate. I'd like to see that thing anyway!

Postal: I came over and looked at your car a few weeks ago, remember?!?! I could sure use that scanmaster 2 for a few minutes. I'll be out of town this week, but I'll stop by next time I am in LeRoy again!

P.S. how'd you do at BG?

:D :) :) :) :D :D :D
Hey Sam- Lets all take a ride then to Leroy- Tom, when are you coming back from Michigan? BTW, do you think dropping the guage from my pocket had anything to do with the reading? I think it was on 0 before the "drop", but then wouldn't go below 40 after the "drop". But when I turn the car on, it goes from 40 to 60. So lets see, if 40=0, then 60=20, right? Postal- thanks for the offer. I'll call you.

I was disapointed in BG Tom. Its kind of a long story but all I could get out of it was some 11.60's with the car spitting and sputtering. I did how ever yank the drivers side tire about a foot in the air on one launch. I did go to Michigan the next week end and yanked some harder launches ( three out of my five 60ft's where in the 1.4's), and knocked about 4 tenths off of my 1/8th mile times compared to BG (they only let us run the 1/8th in Michigan). I'm still trying to work the bugs out of the new set up.
Just try to give me a call before you come over to make sure ill be here and dont have any other commitments that day. Ill try to help you out as much as I can.

Take it easy: Jason
