I want to buy a fuel pressure guage to monitor my fuel pressure. I don't want a permenent mount, just something I can lay beside me and see what the pressure is while driving. Maybe this will tell me why the engine is bucking at times. How much are they and how do I install one?

They go on the Schraeder valve on the driver's side fuel rail usually.

You can get a cheap one for around $36 at Advance Auto.

If you turn up the boost you are going to have to moniter the fuel pressure. Kenne Bell makes a nice set-up that bolts to the underside of the hood. Or fabricate your own bracket and mount your favorite gauge. Do not drill holes in the top of the hood and use sheet metal screws.

Thanks guys,by the way,how much pressure should I be running and how is it adjusted?

You run the pressure called for by your chip usually around 42-45 psi. (43 psi on a stock chip and it should increase 1psi per pound of boost).

You have to have an adjustable regulator to adjust fp, and the adjustment is made by a screw.

I don't consider a mounted fuel gauge a must in a car with a few extra pounds of boost. I would consider some sort of knock detection, scan tool, and a walbro 340 a must.

I have this mounted in a two gage pod under my radio. I would do it again. (That's my personal gage.)

By the way, nothing laying in the car next to you, or anywhere else in there, is safe for fuel pressure, unless it's a capillary tube or electric type gage. The last thing you want, is to be soaked in gas should something fail. NFG for sure! The gage on the hood method will certainly do the job more safely, I just don't like the look. That's why I spent the extra money for the electric. There's also no liquid of any kind inside or even at the windshield.

Hope this helps.
