I may be premature in asking for advice here, but any suggestions/experiences would be appreciated.Car died .When I opened the hood to check engine I heard fuel hissing.Fuel pump comes on with ignition and does not cut off in 2 seconds.Sounds like gas is leaking somewhere in front of car, but no visable leaks in fuel or return line.Scanmaster shows no codes.Fuel pressure comes up to 45 lbs and holds even after ignition/pump is cut off.Replaced f. press. relay.Seems I would hear gas running and fuel pressure would die after cutting off ignition if it was stuck injector. This problem may have nothing to do with car not starting.I plan to check ignition system tomorrow. Also pump may have always run continuously and I never noticed it because I hadn't been under the hood with ignition on before.Fuel pump is hot-wired with Red's kit. Any ideas???? Thanks.

The circuit that runs the pump goes thru the oil pressure switch. It's on the block below the turbo. If you have a oil pressure gauge, then it may be bypassed. Does the oil pressure idiot light come on when the ingition is on/engine off?

I *think* that the original switch either powered the dash light (when pressure is low), or powered the fuel pump (when pressure is up).

I'll check the idiot light tomorow when I go to the shop.I know that the oil pressure sender has a hobbs switch to turn on the fuel pump at a certain pressure, but never thought about it sending a continuous signal if it were bad.Thanks.

The hissing you hear is most likely the fuel flowing through the fuel pressure regulator. Get a stethoscope or use a piece of tubing and probe around to make sure.

Tried that.I can hear it all along the fuel rail and down the fuel line and return line with the stethoscope. It gets fainter and fainter as I get closer to the tank. Its prob. from the regulator as you say.I'll try to pinpoint it tomorrow.I'm probably going to Norwalk although I won't be taking the race car.Precision Automative has pronounced my heads dead. You going?

No, can't get off work. What's this about your heads? Not those M&A's? When do you think you will have your race car out?

Yep, the famous Ruggles M&As.I'm going with Stage 2 this time.New intake, headers, dfi, ect.Cal is going to start on the rebuild after the nationals.Sorry I won't see you at Norwalk.Hope to have the car back on the track in July.
