Just installed a hotwire kit from Caspers and the fuel pump primes but does not stop when the key is in the on position(not running). Tried replacing stock fuel pump relay. Problem does not exist when fuel pump is hooked up with stock wiring, only when hotwire kit is in place. Any help would be appreciated.

PUMP

HOW DID YOU WIRE THE KIT?

SHOULD BE 12V FUSED CONNECTION TO THE BACK OF THE ALTENATOR AND IN THE HOTWIRE KIT THERE SHOULD ALSO BE ANOTHER WIRE THAT PLUGS INTO THE FUEL PUMP TEST LEAD (GRAY CONNECTOR) BEHIND THE AC COMPRESSOR AREA.
THE FUEL PUMP TEST LEAD TIMES THE PUMP TO RUN UNTIL FUEL PRESSURE IS BUILT. IF ITS NOT PLUGED INTO THIS LEAD THE PUMP WILL DO WHAT YOU SAY ITS DOING NOW.

HOPE THIS HELPS

The hotwire kit is from Casper and there is no wire that goes to the fuel pump test lead. Yes it the stock wiring is retained as the kit is plug and play. Did some more troubleshooting today and found that the fuel pump comes on with the stock fuel pump relay removed(kit still installed), as well as with the pump fuse removed, and the computer disconnected. The copper wire the runs to the back of the car always has power with the key in the on position ? I was under the impression that it would loose power after the pump relay shut off ?

Did you talk to John Spina about this? I have not seen his (Caspers) kit but I thought it was triggered by the stock wire. Sounds like it is wired to a direct power source rather than triggered by the ecm signal. I may be wrong as to how his works. :)

I'm having the same type of problem with my fuel pump. Except I'm using a walbro 340 pump and a hotwire kit from Racetronix. I was wondering if you found your problem......Thanks

Unplug the factory harness from the hotwire harness (NOT the fuel pump end).

If the pump shuts off then there is a problem with the factory wiring.

OR

If the pump stays on it is probably a sticking relay contact. You can try giving the relay a tap with a screwdriver to see if it kicks off.

OR

The thick red + alternator feed wire on relay terminal # 30 is shorting to the coil terminal # 86.

Please email support@racetronix.com for further help with your problem.

Well I went and unpluged the hotwire kit going to the factory harness and the pump went off. So I guess this means there is a problem with the factory harness. Thanks for the info. Now the search begins.

Unplug your oil pressure switch and test.

Then unplug your injector fuse and test.

Do each test independently.
