Just a quickie.... the rheostat in my tank was blown up thanks to some good wiring by the previous owner...did some rewiring and put in a new rheostat and i just need to know how many volts are supposed to be coming from the purple wire that goes to the fuel pump with the key on? so if anyone would run out to the driveway with the voltage meter for me id appreciate it quite a bit :D thanks

Are u talking about fp hot wire ? If so 11 volts for stock wire, 12
volts for hot wire set up.

I am talking about the purple wire for the analog fuel gauge in the dash. Thanks for taking the time to try and help.

I don't believe there is any set "voltage" going to it. The rheostat is a "variable" ground ranging from 0 ohms (full) to 90 ohms (empty). The instrument panel supplies 12V to one side of your dash gauge and the other side is grounded through the rheostat in the tank. If you do pick up a voltage reading, it would be meaningless because it would have already passed through the coil in the gauge...
