I have changed the gauge and sender unit and it still doesnt work. Was the new gauge or unit bad, or probably a wiring problem. Which wire do check at pump to see if it has power. The gauge has never worked since I got the car.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well maybe you should put some gas in it ;) Seriously, is the sending unit that you installed used or new? I would also go through and check the wiring to see if it's pinched/corroded/burned/etc. Not sure which wire to check, but look which one is going to the sending unit. This should give you a little more to work with.

I tried to put the "low fuel" light on mine and the gauge went bad, I had to remove the instrument cluster and found that the flexible film circuit board was damaged and some of the film had delaminated (due to age and my mucking around w/it). The fuel gauge circuit is on the outside perimietr of the film, I took a digital multimeter to check continuity, and there was and open circuit. I took a small lenght of thin gauge wire and soldered it as a jumper. I tacked the ends down w/ superglue and then verry gently soldered using low heat (the film will melt if you're not careful). I got the gauge to work but still can't get the low fuel light to function:( (I would have just replaced the whole cluster but didn't know if any other car had same panel or circuitry).

on my other car, mechanic told me to ground out the wire from the sending unit, which is the middle one on the harness, fuel gauge should go to full.

Printed Circuit

The printed circuits are the same as a NA Regal so if you need to relace one they are as near as the local salvage yards. They are the same from 84 to 87.

:) cool!:) thanx, turbofish38! I scewed mine up w/ the "low fuel" lite and wouldn't mind getting a spare, but I didn't know if they were "turbo specific"
