Being that our cars are so funny about the gas quality. Once I find a good station I stick with it(always 93)
Well, last few tanks I have been getting knock, so I run some good injec cleaner through and no help. So, I think maybe the fuel filter needs replacing(about time anyway) R&R it and no change.
So I check the plugs, all perfect combustion, gap was worn .002 over(like .037) with the electrode not showing much wear.
So I regap and slap em back in.
Still getting knock as I roll into the throttle(to WOT) and at WOT.
Boost is wear it always has been so that is not it. Even with the boost @14.5. KR is lower but never had any KR at that level before.
Buggin' me, so the only thing I can think is the gas from that station is crap now. The car idles great and I even added a few pounds of fuel, raised from 780 ish to 790ish with no change.

Anyone else across the states noticed the gas quality diminishing ?? Makes sense, I am sure they are paying more for their gas also. Sure they are going to cut corners. Sucks to I have a full tank to burn off before I can try another.
Good news..smoked an older lightning this morning with 6.2 KR, he kicked it with me behind him...so of course I stab it and dropped to the left lane and eased by him. Wish I could get the new ones that easily.

sir it's time for you to get ALCOHOL!

run 22+ lb of boost without knock retard even on crappy 93 gas like mentioned...hell there's people running 22 lbs of boost with no knock on 91 octane and alcohol injection in california...i too always got knock retard even at 14-15 lbs of boost on straight 93 and you know what? i got sick of it...i always felt that my car wasn't 100% up to it's performance capabilities just running 15 lbs of boost...now that i have a dual nozzle alky setup, i have run as high as 25 psi of boost on a te-44 turbo and 50's and there was nothing on the road that could keep up with me...talk about fun times!

Yeah, Alky would be great and possibly happen in the next year (already been thinkin' on it).
Been running fine until lately...must be the gas.

Can't you either buy a couple gals of higher octane gan and mix it or buy a can of octane booster & mix with gas just enough to determine if gas is the problem. Could it be old gas, so the octane rating has dropped enough to cause the problem?

Update ...yep it was crap gas.
Back to my original boost levels 16 psi and min KR.

i've been getting slight knock levels at 12#. i was figuring its mainly due to the higher air temps.

i need to get my car drunk....
alochol, coming soon to an engine near me.
