I been having a problem with my fuel pumps. When I put it in it works great. After that I turn on the car and it is running for a while it will start to done fuel pressure. It is the pump that drops the fuel. I have hotwired the pump and at first it works and then it dieds on me. I have changed pumps a few times and now I think that it is the gas tank that is giving me problems. There was a lot of drit in there and I took that out. Now I think that there my be rust in there and my question is can I clean out the gas tank and if I can how and with what.

You say you cleaned the dirt out?
How did you do it?
You seeing anything stuck to the sock when you pull the pump to check?
How much pressure drop are you seeing?
A number of guys note that their fuel pressure drops slightly after their cars run a while[couple of psi].
How old are the pumps? Are they new or a few years old? What kind of fuel are you running?
The reason for the pressure drop most guys see is largely due to lowering of the alternator output after the car goes through the initial recharge cycle after startup.
How does the f/p hold up on a full tank as opposed to half tank?
You could have a problem with tank ventilation.
Try removing the gas cap and see if that helps.
If that doesn't help, try a little Marvel Mystery Oil and see if that helps.

And how's the fuel filter (tucked along the frame rail on the driver's side)???

Changed it lately???

:D
