Gas tank

Pulled my gas tank out of my 85 Regal Limited non turbo. Took out the sending unit and thee tank had a metal baffle in it? Is there a difference in the turbo baffle or maybe they put a turbo tank in my car??? If facing the tank from the filler tube side the baffle goes horisontally across the tank right behind the sending unit and kind of wraps a 1/3 of the way around the sending unit. Thanks for the help.

On my 84 it was a U shape baffle that wrapped around and went under the sending unit too. Kind of sounds like you have the same. I would imagine it is there to trap some gas and stop it from being pulled away from the fuel pump/intake while under acceleration. I do not know if there is a difference in the tanks.
