I was on a road test from the dealership today and i see a GNX. I stopped and said to myself it must not be real. Anyway i turn around and pull in and checked it out. It is real:eek:

I am going back will get pictures up ASAP.

Cool you never know what you will come across. ;)

How much did they want for the GNX? Did she know you took that picture? :)

Not for sale being serviced at some little shop around the corner.

Picture Yes she was cool with it. She is very proud of them.

sorry, but i've got to say thats not a gnx, a few things don't match up. first off the turbo shiled, its wrong should say gnx on it. the GNX emblem on the dash is wrong. the origional one has a thin X with short gn letters, reproductions had a thicker X with taller and also thicker gn letters. the sticker on the intercooler looks like it was removed, possible from a real gnx, i don't know but it doesn't loook right??? I've looked at your pictures but there not good enough to see the emissions controll sticker. so if you have the chance go back and look at it. normal gn's say general motors on them, but the gnx says asc inc. thats the easiest way to tell if a gnx is real or nt, most people don't know about that. it might be real, but i don't think it is.

did the real GNX's have the dutt type neck like this one does? Perhaps he removed the turbo shield to store it. If it IS bogus, he sure did a nice job...especially with the rear suspension.

the "easiest" way to tell is look at the rear suspension.......most phonies don't spend the $$ to upgrade to the GNX suspension....they have a big ole torque arm coming off the third member....can't miss it

I posted pictures of the rear end. Hard to lay under there during the day with slacks and a white shirt.

That is why i was hoping that someone on this board knows something about number GNX 509.

The real GNX didn't have a solid MAF pipe or 9 " k&N either.... but someone may have added those after they bought it. Not everyone keeps their GN completely stock. I have seen some with rollcages. In fact I know one that has a 500+ hp Motor in it. It does have a GNX rearend and that is a pretty expsensive thing to fake. I think I would be checking vins before I started shouting fake.

The turbo shield could have been replaced to make a cut for a THDP.

I always look for the relays. The GNX had different relays. But they are hard to see. It does have Stuart Warner guages... I couldn't see the ladder bar...what about the wheels?

The guy i was talking to said that the owner is very picky when this guy works on his car and saves everything. Yes the shield would have been cut to fit the DP. I would not cut a GNX shield, i just saw one sell on e-bay for $1000.00:eek:

I looked at the relays, and they are right, there moved right in front of the windshield wiper motor, i think thats what that is anyways, don't know off the top of my head.

as for the cross bar, thats an easy fake. there cheap, or can be made for next to nothig, but the rear differential housing isn't easy to fake at all. actually i've never seen a reproduction of one. I'l wondering if this guy had the real #509, and bought a whole bunch of replacement parts, because you have to have an origional to buy the parts. then with the parts made a close replica of a gnx? that would explain the post production dash plate.
