Hey everybody. I got Turboregal84's motor in my garage now. (still pretty broken up about the accident, Herb). Well, the motor has run consistent 12.8's off a rebuild 20,000 miles ago. It is a .30 overbore rebuild with stock cam and lifters, turbo crank and looks to be trw pistons. I am dropping the pan friday to do a good check up, then it's time to mod. I would liket o get a cam in the car and a new timing set, but what is a good set for our 84-85's? I am having the intake ported out, and possibly the heads. After that, the tranny needs an overhaul. I basically need an entire trans, but as I am in college still, I really cant afford a new transmission. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot everyone!

John :D

Best thing I can suggest is to put a little away every month until you can get the trans you want. If you take shortcuts it will all cave in at the worst possible time.

You shuld have bought Herb's heads and intake...the heads were done by Mease and his intake is ported and polished. You just can't go wrong there.

I now how ya feel man, I'm in college too and i emptied my pockets at herbs too. If i had the money I would have took his headers and heads and injectors....the turbo will hold me off for now tho;)

lucky man

You luck man. I visited herb and picked up the motor, but man, I made my wish list in one glance at his stock. He is a great guy, and it is sad what happened. I am trying to do him a little justice by getting this motor ready and in. The trans is my main concern. As for the block from Herb, it is a 25520040 casting number. I checked it, and I know nothing about it. I know it is earlier, but was found in the turbo buicks in 84. Any info would be great from anyone...I think I'll make another post for info...More specific at least. good luck with that turbo!
